An Cat Dubh – Into the Heart

An Cat Dubh – (English: “The Black Cat”)

This is not the cat that adopted us. This beautiful creature is who we refer to as β€œThe Black Cat”

This cat was here when we arrived at our RV resort. She was dwelling around an elder couple in a really sweet pusher motor home. Their names were Ray and Myrna. Good folk to be sure. They happened to be β€œWinter Texans” so they had left to go back to Iowa around the last week of March. Interestingly enough, this cat has chosen to remain in the same spot. Is she awaiting Ray and Myrna’s return?

Into the heart and with and unconditional concern for this little soul, someone else came along, rented this spot, and has been giving her fresh water and food ever since πŸ™‚

Going To Port A Today

Port Aransas (TX) is a wonderful place to visit. It’s just a hop, skip, and jump away from us. We enjoy taking the ferry across the bay. The majority of times we are fortunate enough to see some dolphins frolicking about as well as some Long-tailed Grackles that sit on your mirror asking for a handout. The sand is hard-packed so you can drive your car along the beach, which is most awesome. You can even rent a Golf Beach Cart to cruise around in if you like. Most of the locals own their own carts and use them quite frequently around there.

Anyways, my Rebel is packed and ready to go. I’ll be sure to share some of my pictures with y’all tomorrow. Wishing everyone a most beautiful and peaceful Sunday πŸ™‚

No Lions, No Tigers, But Deer, Oh My!

I was pleasantly surprised when I finally decided to visit the Rockport Demo Bird Garden & Wetlands Pond. What a awesome little place to get away from it all. Although, you’re Β not really getting away at all. I hope you mind my meaning as you’d find yourself in the midst of the commercial world upon exiting the innards of this little paradise. I have to admit, it really warped my head a bit. In the blur of my current reality, my mind was attempting to distinguish between Heaven and Hell. So easily and soulfully decided without a doubt about it… I was in Heaven! However, how quickly my perspective changed when I discovered that I was back in the commercialized civilization (AKA: Hell) as soon as I reached the end of a path.

This mini-paradise offers all kinds of different species to observe. Kind of like the kitchen sink of ecosystems; if you will. I initially walked into this paradise with my standard/short lens attached to my Rebel. While observing all of the different photo opportunities, I soon realized that I needed my other lens. Back to the car I go to pull the ‘ole equipment switch-a-roo.

Upon walking back into the beauty that was, I was suddenly caught of guard when I looked around to discover three deer drinking from a little body of water right in front of me. I certainly did not expect anything like this at all. I quickly started capturing some images of this very beautiful and humbling experience.

Anywho, before capturing the image below, Β I had asked this particular deer if it could smile for me — Bada-bing, bada boom πŸ™‚

What beautiful creatures to behold. This was absolutely the closest I’ve ever been to wild deer roaming about in their natural surroundings. I was in awe to say the very least. They didn’t seem to startle easy or mind me much at all. I just kept talking to them in a most soothing tone while they went about their business.Β I am truly grateful for my personal relationship with nature. It seemingly appreciates me just as well πŸ˜‰

Before moving forward to share some other images of my overall experience with you, I’d like to share a few more pics of these wild deer with you…

Alright my deer friends… onward with some other digitized memories πŸ˜‰

Who doesn’t appreciate the beauty of butterflies? I know for certain that I do!

There were all kinds of cool Dragonflies for my viewing pleasure as well…

Even though I was in a state of awe, I had a feeling that something was afowl πŸ˜‰

I almost forgot to include this little one…

Lest I regrettably forget to share my appreciation for some of the wonderful plants that complete this beautiful and self-sustaining environment…

I can’t wait until September to witness all of the Hummingbirds that come through here. If you are ever lucky enough to find yourself in these parts, make it a point to visit this location. I am forever grateful that I did πŸ™‚

El Sol Dice AdiΓ³s

When discussing photography with someone who has been here longer than I, he told me that Copano Bay is the best place to capture images of the sunset. As far as I am concerned, he is absolutely right πŸ™‚

Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun
But mama, that’s where the fun is…

Make it a great day!

Cat’n a Pose

This is one silly Dat. No wonder I was chosen by this soul. In our present and not-so-sane world, us silly beings have got to stick together.

So here’s the story behind this photograph…

As I explained in an earlier post of mine, this cat navigates these Coastal Oaks around us like he owns them. The other day he climbed up one of them to scope out a bird. He got way the heck up there and just sat there on his backside with his tail hanging over the branch. The thought of “What a cool picture this would be” crossed my mind. So just as quickly as possible, I rushed inside to grab my case and ready my Rebel for some action. While getting everything prepped, I already knew that by the time I headed back outside, the little turd wouldn’t be sitting there anymore. Sure enough and as I was regrettably thinking, there he was sitting in the grass at the base of the tree. I looked at him and said, “You get back up there! I was going to take another picture of you so I can blog about you and your silliness some more.”

I did happen to coax him back up the tree just to the lowest branch base where he turned around and struck this pose for me. I’ll tell you what… Just like the majority of cats, this one fits into the “I’m just a goober” category quite well πŸ™‚

No Acknowledgement?

I was doing my morning browsing ritual (positive and uplifting things are very rare these days) and ran across something that an individual on a forum that I frequent had pointed out to others. As I ventured over to Goober to check for myself, I discovered the same thing —> Zilch, Nada, Nothing <— designating the celebration of Easter. Seeing what Gutter has done with their landing page graphic on celebrative days of the past, I found this somewhat disturbing :\
